KEITHVILLE, La. (AP) - Louisiana Veterans Affairs Secretary Lane
Carson and AmVets officials will dedicate a new bell tower at the
Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery near Keithville in southern
The dedication ceremony is scheduled for noon Thursday.
The electronically controlled carillon (KEHR-uh-lahn) can play a
number of tunes. It was donated by the national veterans
organization AmVets, which is working to install carillons at all
Veterans Affairs regional and national cemeteries.
Its website says more than 90 have been installed, including
bell towers at the cemeteries in Chalmette and Jackson, La.
