Veteran Radio Personality Rene Fontenot Passes Away

It is with great sadness that we must make this announcement. On Sunday, February 7th, our friend, Rene' Fontenot, passed away very suddenly at his home.
While it was still dark and most people were still sleeping, Rene' was beginning another broadcast day at KSLO, AM 1230. Everyday for 54 years, Rene' made his way upstairs to KSLO studios to get his day...and ours...started.
The distinctive voice of Rene' Fontenot has been heard for generations. He will be missed by all who knew him, but especially by the farmers and ranchers in the Acadiana area who counted on this steady, reliable voice to give them the information they needed.
Again, we are saddened to inform our listeners that we have lost one of our own, Mr.
Rene' Fontenot. Arrangements are pending. Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas is in charge of all arrangements. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family as we, here at KSLO Broadcasting Co., send our deepest condolences.
