BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Louisiana's agriculture department says
Veron Foods LLC of Prairieville is recalling 250 tons of
ready-to-eat sausage and hog's head cheese because of possible
contamination by bacteria.
The Department of Agriculture and Forestry says investigation of
an illness revealed a sample contaminated with Listeria bacteria,
which can cause an uncommon but potentially fatal disease.
The recall covers all packages of: Veron Hot Smoked Sausage;
Veron Mild Smoked Sausage; Martin Hot Smoked Sausage; Martin Mild
Smoked Sausage; Veron Andouille (ahn-DOO-ee) Sausage; Martin
Andouille Sausage; and Veron Hog Head Cheese.
They have the establishment number LA 22 inside state inspection
mark as well as date codes of 010110 through 111310, and were
distributed to retail establishments and institutions within
