The Vermilion Parish Municiple Task Force recently conducted a search of a residence in Abbeville which resulted in the arrest of 31 year old Hubert Bessard IV from Abbeville. Bessard was arrested for Poss of Marijuana, Poss of Crack Cocaine with the intent to distribute and Manufacturing crack cocaine. Agents with the task force received several complaints of illicit narcotics activity taking place on S. Louisiana St in Abbeville. Agents obtained permission to search the residence and confiscated several suspected rocks of crack cocaine, marijuana and numerous items that are used to cook cocaine down into the base form known as crack. Officers also conducted a search of Bessard's vehicle and confiscated more suspected crack inside of the vehicle. Officers from the Abbeville Police Department also alerted agents to Bessard attempting to discard a small plastic bag that was in his mouth by spitting it into a drain. After interviewing several witnesses it was determined that this residence is used by Bessard to manufacture and store the illicit drug. Bessard was taken into custody and bond was set at $46,000.
Also on March 23rd agents were called to an area off of Martin Luther King Dr in Abbeville in reference to suspected drug dealing taking place. Upon arrival agents noticed a male subject who fit the description of the suspected dealer begin to walk away. Agents identified themselves and explained their reason for being there. The male subject identified as Gary Guidry Jr., 22, of Abbeville produced a cough syrup bottle which contained codeine. Upon further search several small bags of suspected marijuana were also located on the suspect. Guidry was taken into custody and booked for Poss with intent to Distribute Marijuana and Poss of a Schedule III drug (Codeine). Bond was set at $15,000
