ABBEVILLE, La. (AP) - The Vermilion Parish School Board says a new rule against cursing and putdowns applies to its own board members, too.
Member Anthony Fontana says there's no way to penalize elected officials for cursing, and that includes board members.
But fellow member Bill Searle says it does not make sense to punish school employees but not board members. And member Charles Campbell says he'll ensure the new policy is enforced.
The new policy also says nobody who works for the School Board may embarrass or belittle another employee or student.
Board attorney Woody Woodruff tells The Abbeville Meridional that a formal complaint would start an investigation, and each case would be considered individually.
