A Vermilion Parish teacher is in serious condition after an accident yesterday.
Amy Noel was injured in a single car crash on Highway 14 in Iberia Parish, between Delcambre and Erath.
When her name was released, the community sent out their support for her family. She is a native of Delcambre and has been a teacher at Erath High School for many years.
Principal Marc Turner told KATC, "she is one of those faculty members that has that vibrant personality. She is an asset here the kids love her. It is one of those things when someone like that gets in an accident it hurts everyone."
On a wall entering the high school, Amy's teaching philosophy is proudly on display, "Everyone has the right to an education. Teachers are here to help, but students are responsible for getting the best education they possibly can." Principal Turner said that teaching was Amy's calling, and she lived by her philosophy of doing all she could to have high classroom standards but also keep a good balance of respect between her and her students.
Her students adore her as well, saying that her class is difficult but she always does everything she can to help.
Amy's accident is affecting the entire school, uniting students and faculty together as they send their love and support to her and her family. The school is collecting cards for her and will be delivering them in a binder to the hospital.
The cause of Amy's crash is still unknown. Investigator say it remains under investigation.
