Vermilion Parish parents whose students will start the new school year with a three-day-a-week schedule attended an informational meeting last night to discuss the changes.
Because construction of the new North Vermilion Middle School will not be complete by the start of school, middle school students and students at North Vermilion High School will share the high school and alternate days when they report to school.
"We had good responses from parents," said Vermilion Parish Schools Superintendent Jerome Puyau. "They were happy with administration for a quick and decisive decision; it worked out well. We're working with our contractor to get them on a regular schedule as a soon as possible."
For the first week of classes, middle school students will attend class at the high school on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and high school students will go on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The school days will start at 7:18 a.m. and end at 2:38 p.m.
