The Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics division made the recent arrests for drug related crimes.
- Robert Crooms Jr (dob 3-5-79) of Abbeville was arrested on multiple drug charges. While working street sales disruption, the narcotics unit came across Crooms, who was subsequently wanted for drug charges. Upon approaching Crooms and advising that he was under arrest, Crooms began to fight violently with the agents. After agents were able to get Crooms subdued, it was found that he may have been fighting with the agents due to him having more illicit drugs in his possession. Crooms was found to be in possession of approximately 4 grams of cocaine in crack form. Crooms was arrested and charged with distribution of cocaine, possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, resisting an officer, and proceeds derived from drug sales. Total bond set was $64,250.
- Once again, as agents were working criminal narcotics patrol they ran across another subject wanted on drug charges. Agents approached Dwayne Campbell of Abbeville, who was wanted in conjunction with an investigation done earlier in the year by the drug unit. Campbell's arrest stemmed from a search warrant conducted for suspected drug related offenses. Campbell was arrested and charges with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile. Total bond set was $25,000.
- Agents were working drug surveillance in Kaplan on an area that several tips had been received in reference to drug sales taking place. Upon investigating the matter further, agents noticed one Noah Williams (dob 11-15-66) of Kaplan, frequenting the area. Upon agents approaching Williams and advising him of his rights Williams stated that he indeed purchased cocaine in the area, which he had on his possession. Williams was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine. Total bond set was $10,000.
