According to Sheriff Mike Couvillon, the following persons were arrested by the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics division for drug related crimes:
- Kandes Bertrand (dob 12-28-87) of Gueydan, arrested for possession of cocaine. She was also subsequently charged with failure to appear for a court hearing. Total bond set was $7,500.
- Brandon Johnson (dob 9-10-88) of Abbeville was arrested for obstruction of justice. Upon receiving information that Johnson was allegedly in possession of crack cocaine, agents set out to investigate the matter. As agents approached Johnson, he recognized them and immediately put something into his mouth, which agents believed to be the illicit drugs. A struggle ensued but Johnson was able to swallow the substance. Johnson was subsequently charged with obstruction and bond was set at $1,000.
- Brant Hebert (dob 1-7-88) of Abbeville, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine. Hebert also had a detainer placed on him by probation and parole upon his arrest. Total bond set was $5,000.
- Jamie Vallery (dob 2-13-89) of Abbeville, was arrested while agents were working street level disruption in Kaplan. Agents recognized Vallery, who had several outstanding warrants for drug related offenses and warrants for failure to appear for court proceedings. Agents enlisted the help of the Sheriff's Office Patrol division due to Vallrey's tendencies to flee or resist. True to form, upon approaching Vallery, a struggle ensued, forcing deputies to tase Vallery to bring him into compliance. Upon getting him under compliance, Vallery was cleared through medical personnel and transported to the VPCC where he was arrested and charged with seven counts of failure to appear, and one violation of Probation and Patrol for possession of cocaine. Total bond set is $18,750.
