Vermilion Catholic High School's new head football coach is charged with DWI and open container. Abbeville police officers pulled over Richard "Roch" Charpentier, 26, at 11:16 Tuesday night, according to Lt. David Hardy of the Abbeville Police Dept. He said a breath test showed Charpentier's blood alcohol level was .123, and the legal limit is .08.

Charpentier replaces Trev Faulk as head football coach after Faulk, in June, accepted the head football coach position at Northside High School in Lafayette. It's unknown how the school will handle Charpentier's DWI charge. Principal Mike Guilbeaux was in a meeting when we called for comment. KATC will have an update when we hear from him.
