On October 2, 2009, at approximately 7:20 am, officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to the 2900 block of Johnston Street regarding a crash involving a school bus. Traffic investigators indicated that a vehicle was attempting to turn left from Johnston Street onto a private lot, when the vehicle struck a school bus traveling south on Johnston Street. After striking the bus, the vehicle then struck a second vehicle, also traveling south on Johnston Street. Both drivers of the vehicles reported no injuries. There were 7 students on the school bus traveling to Broadmoor Elementary School at the time of the crash. All of the students were check by Acadian Ambulance personnel prior to being transported to the school. The driver of the vehicle was cited for Failure to Yield While Turning Left. The crash remains under investigation.
