Vegetables to be donated from HALT Giving Garden

The HALT (Halting Addiction in Lafayette Teens) Giving Garden received some TLC this spring and is looking great. The teens (in the court ordered program) and their parents worked on doubling the number of planted raised beds. The teens along with their HALT counselor, Chuck Broussard, work in the garden weekly with the vegetables being donated.

In the Fall of 2012 and Spring of 2013, EarthShare Gardens collaborated with the Boys & Girls Club and UL AmeriCorps to start an After School Garden Club at J. W. Faulk Elementary school. The children planted radishes, beets, turnips, red onions, broccoli, cabbage, strawberries and more. Along with planting and tending to the garden each week, the Afterschool Garden Club members learned from UL AmeriCorps members about plants and the environment and had a healthy snack.
