A Texas man is suing the Vatican and the Diocese of Lake Charles, alleging that he was sexually abused by former priest while growing up in Lake Charles. The plaintiff, named as "John Doe I" in the lawsuit, claims that former priest Mark Broussard raped and molested him multiple times between 1985 and 1988. At the time Doe was an altar boy at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church, where Broussard was pastor. Doe says in his lawsuit that Broussard molested him once in 1992 in the rectory of St. Eugene's Catholic Church in Grand Chenier.
Broussard was arrested last March at his home in Duson. He faces more than 200 counts of sex abuse against children. He remains in the Calcasieu Parish Jail on $3.4 million bond.
Broussard and the Archdiocese of New Orleans are also named as defendants in the lawsuit.
