HOUMA, La. (AP) - Vandebilt Catholic High School's mixed choir has been invited to perform Carnegie Hall in New York City.
The Houma school's ensemble was awarded a gold rating for a superior performance at the New York City Heritage Festival in late April, prompting the Carnegie Hall invite for 2012 or 2013.
According to The Courier, the performance is part of Festival at Carnegie Hall, which is open to select choirs, bands and orchestras. Hundreds of school choirs nationwide compete to perform at Festival at Carnegie Hall and Festival of Gold. The performances are designed to showcase some of the country's best ensembles.
Carnegie Hall performances for the festival started in 1991.
