Authorities are searching for the person responsible for robbing a UPS man at gunpoint Tuesday, September 21.
At approximately 3:03 p.m. Tuesday, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office received a report of an armed robbery at 382 deBallion Plantation Road in the Belarie Cove area, near Ville Platte. A UP S driver told authorities he noticed a vehicle following him on U.S. 167. He stopped at the deBallion Plantation Road residence to make a delivery. When he was leaving the residence, he was stopped by a green two-door Grand Am at the end of the driveway. A black male jumped out of the vehicle wearing a black bandana and waving a handgun. He pushed the driver to the ground and demanded his money and Blackberry phone. The suspect then took the driver's keys and threw them.
Authorities believe the Grand Am was a 2001 or 2002 model. The suspect, believed to be in his late 20s, was wearing loose fitting blue jeans and a white shirt. He had a black bandana and his hair style was described as corn-rolls.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the sheriff's office at 363-2161. All callers will remain anonymous.
