LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - Renovations are being planned for the Rosa Hart Theater.
Officials of the Lake Charles Civic Center tell the American Press (http://bit.ly/qjfACs) the work will be done in two phases.
Dressing rooms will be revamped in the first phase, followed by reworking of the theater's two lobbies.
Theater supervisor Denver Kaufman said the upgrade has been needed since Hurricane Rita damaged the building in 2005.
When the work will begin and its cost have not yet been worked out since planning is in the early stages, Kaufman said.
However, he said the dressing room work will be paid for by the city and the lobbies using block grant funding.
Kaufman said the lobbies were remodeled in the mid-1990s, but the dressing rooms are original to the 40-year-old theater.
If money is available, upgrades also will be made to the balcony seating. Main-floor seating in the theater was last updated before Rita struck in September 2005, he said.
