The investigation of a Krotz Springs Elementary substitute teacher continues.
Today, KATC learned, in August, the Krotz Springs Police Department issued a warrant for a substitute teacher accused of assaulting a student last school year.
Krotz Springs Police Chief Norman Mouille tells us they issued a warrant for Michael Matthew Spire.
He's accused of throwing the top of a desk across the classroom and flipping a student out of his seat. The student is 13-year-old Brad Durham. In May, he told his mom he was assaulted by Spire after he didn't follow instructions to take out his study guide.
Krotz Springs Police investigated and as of right now, the chief is not looking to arrest Spire, instead issuing him a misdemeanor summons to set a court date. We're told Spire could be served by the end of the week.
I did reach out to the Durham family who declined an on camera interview. They say they're still seeking answers and are frustrated Spire hasn't been brought to justice.
