UPDATE- Tuesday Fire In Scott

UPDATE-At 1:00 August 3, Lafayette Fire Department responded to 428 Hebert Road for a reported house fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the single family dwelling. Firefighters battled the blaze for over one hour before getting it under control. Firefighters were tasked with overcoming several obstacles: metal roof, no hydrants, and the high temperature.

The metal roof made it difficult for the firefighters to access the attic and suppress the fire. Carencro, Duson, and Scott Volunteer Fire Departments provided their tanker trucks to supply water. Two firefighters were treated at the scene by Acadian Ambulance for heat related injuries. Both firefighters returned to duty after being treated.

The dwelling owned by Mr. and Mrs. Chad Lanclos sustained heavy fire and smoke damage. The majority of the damage was isolated on one end of the dwelling and attic. The owners were not home at the time of the incident.

Investigators determined that the fire originated in a bedroom. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Update: The fire has been put out. No word yet on the cause.
