The man who allegedly led Rayne Police on a chase Wednesday is now behind bars.
Rayne Chief of Police Carroll Stelly announced that his department was involved in a high speed chase that ended in a crash on Highway 90.
On January 2, 2013, Rayne police received information of a stolen vehicle and patrol officers spotted the vehicle on Hwy 90 near Martin Petitjean School. When they attempted to stop the vehicle, he took off at a high rate of speed and turned down Hwy 35 South. With Rayne and Acadia Parish Sheriff's officers in pursuit, the suspect traveled into Vermillion parish and then turned on Ebenezer Road and re-entered Acadia parish. The Acadia Sheriff's Officer set out spike strips which the suspect drove over. The suspect then turned west on Hwy 90 near the overpass. Once he crossed the overpass, he attempted to pass a vehicle and lost control of his vehicle and hit the ditch when he was arrested.
Arrested was Sean Wilder, W/M, Dob 5/28/1987, 25, Rayne, LA. Wilder was charged by Rayne PD of with Driving under suspension, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, aggravated flight from an officer, DWI 3rd offense. The Louisiana State Police charged wilder with Careless operation of a motor vehicle.
