Update: Shooting victim named; suspects in custody

An Arnaudville man is dead following a shooting last night at a Lafayette flea market.

Sheriff's deputies say shortly after 11 p.m., 49-year-old Michael Patin was shot once in the back during a carjacking in the parking lot of the Jockey Lot on the Evangeline Thruway.

Patin, who was an employee at the Jockey Lot, was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

According to deputies, several suspects are in custody. However, they say because of the ages of those involved, no other information about those suspects can be released at this time.

The investigation into this homicide continues.
