The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office is investigation an overnight shooting that took place at the Kathy Apartment Complex near Crowley.
According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon his office received a call around 9:00 p.m. of a shooting that occurred in the parking lot. Upon arrival responding officers discovered that a 36 year old Crowley man was shot six times on his upper body when he was exiting his vehicle.
The victim was transported by Acadian Ambulance to the American Legion Hospital where he was stablizied and later transported by Air Med to a Lafayette Hospital where he underwent surgery and remains in Intensive Care in critical condition.
Witnesses at the scene advised that that shooter was a black male subject wearing blue jeans and a black shirt. According to witnesses he was seen leaving the complex on foot.
As investigators continue to interview witnesses, Sheriff Melancon is asking anyone with information to contact Det. Dennis Fruge at 788-8700 or 789-tips.
