Update on Search for Rape and Murder Suspect

Rayne Police continue to search for a man accused of a Temple, Texas murder and a Lorena, TX home invasion and rape where three children were tied up while their mother was attacked. Anthony Wayne O'Neal is considered armed and extremely dangerous.

Police in Temple said the O'Neal shot and killed a man in an apartment complex there and stole a vehicle. The rape and home invasion happened next. Authorities say unlike the murder, the rape was a random crime. O'Neal left a stolen vehicle behind and took the rape victim's white Chrysler minivan.

Rayne Police Officers found the minivan Monday morning in the Winn-Dixie parking lot. The suspect had run out of gas. Detectives combed through the vehicle for evidence and DNA.

Detectives spent Thursday going through surveillance tapes from the Valero gas station adjacent to the Winn Dixie complex, to see if O'Neal stopped there. They did not see him in the images.

O'Neal may be wearing dreadlocks now. If you have any information, call your local law enforcement agency.
