Update: Hit and Killed

The accident happened just after 12:30 this morning on highway 31 between Breaux Bridge and Parks.
Officials say 51-year-old Audie Castille of St. Martinville was attempting to cross the highway when he was hit by a police unit. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
39-year-old Matthew Alexander is being identified as the on-duty deputy driving the vehicle. Reports say Alexander was unable to avoid impact with the victim.
