Lafayette, LA - Vermilionville Living History Museum & Folklife Park invites the public to celebrate Halloween at the village with Boo Bayou, a Fall Carnival for the whole family being held on Saturday, October 27 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. There will be plenty to keep the kids busy including games, costume contest, trick-or-treating throughout the historic village and entertainment provided by Louisiana Performance Center & Renaissance Cadienne. Here's something special for all of the zombies across Acadiana: 5:00-7:00pm, October 27 will mark the first annual Museum of Fear's ZombieWalk!!! The walk is free to the public, and the only requirement is that all participants must don their best zombie attire, and stay in character through to the end. The walk will begin at the Centre International building (old city hall), and end at Park Sans Souci with DJs from Planet Radio, and 107.9, a costume contest, and adult refreshments. The bigger the horde the better, so plan your costume, and start telling your friends!!!

UL SYMPHONY HALLOWEEN CONCERT
Adults and little ones alike will get into the Halloween spirit when the UL-Lafayette Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Michael Blaney presents its Annual Halloween Concert. Tuesday, October 30, at 7:30 p.m. in Angelle Hall Auditorium. Orchestra members will be wearing costumes and the audience is encouraged to show up in their favorite Halloween costumes. Musical highlights of this year's concert include: James Bond, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Danse Macabre and Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet. The orchestra will also present a world premiere performance of Eric Sharp's Renegade Convergence featuring the UL Dance Department. It's a great way to celebrate the holiday in a fun and entertaining way.
Admission is $8 for adults, FREE for 17 and younger, FREE for all UL students, faculty, and staff with I.D. All proceeds benefit the UL-Lafayette Orchestra Program. Annual Families Helping Families of Acadiana and LARC Treats at the Village. This event, "Treating" around the village, was started to give individuals and families with disabilities a fun and safe environment to experience treating. The event begins at 6:00pm promptly, is free of charge, admission is one canned good per family, which will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank. Individuals of any age are welcomed to attend, this is an inclusion event. Refreshments will be served and a costume contest will be held at 7:30pm.

Kool Smiles Office in Lafayette Offering Toys in Exchange for Halloween Candy
‘Operation Troop Treats' lets Lafayette Kids Send their Halloween Candy to Troops in Exchange for a Toy.
Kool Smiles, a leading provider of quality dental care in Louisiana today announced a program designed to give Lafayette kid's teeth a post-Halloween break. Called Operation Troop Treats, the program offers children the opportunity to bring their Halloween candy in to the Lafayette Kool Smiles Dental Office in exchange for a choice of a toy. The candy will then be sent in care packages to U.S. troops serving overseas via Operation Gratitude.
In addition to the exchange program, Kool Smiles is donating toothbrushes, toothpaste, and funds to cover shipping costs to Operation Gratitude.
The Lafayette Kool Smiles office is participating from Thursday, November 1st to Saturday, November 3rd during open office hours. Every child that comes in can receive one toy for every 25 pieces of unopened candy in its original intended packaging (individual sticks of gum, for example, will not be accepted). The program is open to everyone, regardless of whether they are a Kool Smiles patient. There is a limit of 3 toys per child and toys will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.
