Update: Fire is under control in Kaplan

The fire in Kaplan is under control at this time. Fire departments from Acadia, Vermilion, and Iberia are helping battle the blaze.
The fire started at an antique shop due to a candle falling over. The fire spread to the MMA training facility and a skating rink. The skating rink's roof collapsed due to the fire.
Residents who use the city of Kaplan's water are asked to not use their water while the Fire Department continues to fight the fire on Cushing Street.
One person suffered minor injuries.
