The subdivisions of Cypress Ridge and River Ridge in Butte Larose are currently under a boil advisory effective immediately due to a break in the line. Please Boil your water before drinking. The boil advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
On Friday, equipment that had been recently installed created hot spots in the water line. Hot spots are when inconsistent, heavy pressure runs through the lines creating breaks in the pipes. Residents have been without running water since then. Owner of River Ridge LLC, Wayne Taylor, stated the water should be on by 5:00 pm June 17, 2013, and that is when the boil water advisory begins.
Samples of water are being submitted to DHH to test. Once the results are in and the all clear has been given, a rescind order will be issued.
It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means:
Boil water for one full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one clean container to another, or by adding a small pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled.
Again you are advised to disinfect your own water prior to consumption until you have been advised otherwise.
