Update: Bicyclist Dies From Injuries

On November 1, 2010, at approximately 6:00 am, the victim died at a local hospital from injuries received during the crash. The victim is identified as Carl James Lindon (48) of Lafayette. The crash remains under investigation.

Bicyclist Injured in Collision with 18 Wheeler

On October 31, 2010, at approximately 8:50 pm, Lafayette Police responded to a crash involving a bicyclist near the intersection of the NE Evangeline Thruway and Bellot Street. The operator of an 18 wheeler advised investigators he was traveling in the right lane of the NE Evangeline Thruway when for unknown reasons a male bicyclist rolled into the roadway, striking his trailer. The bicyclist, a 48 year old male of Lafayette, was ejected and thrown onto the roadway. The bicyclist was transported to an area hospital and is listed in critical condition. The driver of the truck was not injured in the crash. The crash remains under investigation by the Lafayette Police Department's Traffic Section.
