UPDATE: Escaped Inmate Arrested in Houston

Update: Jamaul LeBleu has been arrested in Houston, TX.

UPDATE: (Vinton) The search continues today for 19-year-old Jamaul LeBleu who escaped
Wednesday from a C. Paul Phelps Correctional Center litter work detail in the town of
Vinton, La.
While there have been no credible leads in the last 24 hours, it's very possible LeBleu
may now be eluding capture via a car. At approximately 7:30 a.m. Friday
morning, a 2003 Toyota Camry was reported stolen from the Vinton area where
correctional officers, chase teams and local law enforcement have been
concentrating their search efforts. The Toyota Camry is a smoke grey color with
Louisiana license plate number PJE 270. The car was last seen traveling
westbound on Interstate 10. The Texas Department of Public Safety and other
local law enforcement agencies have been notified.
LeBleu is a black male, 5 feet 5 inches tall weighing approximately 150 pounds. He has
brown eyes and black hair.
The Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections is still offering a $500
reward for information leading to LeBleu's apprehension. He was serving time for a
simple burglary conviction. The public is urged to call local authorities or 911 with
information on LeBleu's whereabouts. The suspect has family members in the
Churchpoint area of Acadia Parish.

UPDATE: (Baton Rouge) Search teams from C. Paul Phelps Correctional Center continue to
search for 19-year-old Jamaul LeBleu, who was assigned to a litter work detail
yesterday at the time of his escape (around1:00 p.m.) in Vinton, Louisiana. LeBleu is a
black male, 5 feet 5 inches tall weighing approximately 150 pounds. He has brown
eyes and black hair.
Search teams are concentrating their efforts on an area west and north of the town of
Vinton. Canine teams from Louisiana State Penitentiary and additional correctional
officers from Avoyelles Correctional Center in Cottonport and J. Levy Dabadie
Correctional Center in Pineville are assisting in the search today. Local law
enforcement authorities are also assisting with the investigation.
The Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections is offering a $500 for
information leading to LeBleu's apprehension. He was serving time for a simple
burglary conviction. The public is urged to call local authorities or 911 with information
on LeBleu's whereabouts. The suspect has family members in the Churchpoint area of

(Lake Charles) A search is underway for a male offender who escaped from a litter
clean-up crew in the town of Vinton, La. at approximately 1:00 p.m. today.
19-year-old Jamaul LeBleu (DOC #547046) was serving time at C. Paul Phelps
Correctional Center (PCC) in DeQuincy for a simple burglary conviction.
LeBleu is a black male, 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds.
LeBleu has family living in the Churchpoint area of Acadia Parish.
PCC chase teams are on the scene and local law enforcement agencies in the area
have been notified of LeBleu's escape and are assisting in the search. The Louisiana
Department of Public Safety and Corrections is offering a $500 reward for information
leading to LeBleu's apprehension.
LeBleu should be considered armed and dangerous and anyone with information should
contact local authorities or call 911.
