After a Milton Elementary School kindergarten boy died this morning after an accident boarding the bus, counselors are talking to the other 19 students who were on the bus when the accident happened around 7:15.

Director of Marketing and Student Recruitment Angie Simoneaux said, "Counselors also are talking to the students in the child's class, and his teacher is calling the families of the students in the child's class." Counselors are talking to parents, too.

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation and will decide whether charges should be filed. The driver has been placed on leave pending the outcome of the Sheriff's investigation.

After the accident, another bus was sent to pick up the students on the bus, to take them to school. The Lafayette Parish School System's counseling crisis team was dispatched to Milton Elementary immediately.
