Bourg, LA- Shortly after 6 p.m. yesterday evening, a 19-year-old was killed when he was ejected from his vehicle in Terrebonne Parish.
The investigation revealed that a 2001 Ford Sport Trac was traveling north on Lower Country Drive in Bourg, LA. The Sport Trac was being driven by Austin Neil, (age 19) of Montegut, LA. The Sport Trac failed to negotiate a right curve on Lower Country Drive and traveled off the left side of the road where it struck a guardrail. After impacting the guardrail, the Sport Trac traveled across the roadway to the right and began to roll over several times. Neil, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner's Office.
Three passengers inside the vehicle, who were not wearing seat belts, received minor injuries in the crash.
Alcohol use is unknown at this time, and routine toxicology tests are pending for Neil. This crash remains under investigation.
