A Beaumont woman is dead after a two vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 10 east of Breaux Bridge.
According to investigating Troopers, Friday at 3:30 p.m., 30-year-old Angel Zermeno of Brownsville, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet truck west on I-10. Zermeno was towing an unoccupied 2005 Jeep Liberty behind his truck. For reasons still under investigation the Liberty broke free of Zermeno's vehicle, crossed the median and struck a 2008 Nissan driven by 23-year-old Alycee Henley of Beaumont.
Henley, who was restrained, sustained moderate injuries. Two other passengers in Henley's vehicle sustained moderate injuries. A third passenger, 24-year-old Grace Lee of Beaumont, was unrestrained and died as a result of the crash.
Troopers do not suspect impairment as a factor in the crash; however, toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
This crash remains under investigation.
