Unrestrained Man Dies in Allen Parish Crash

State Police are investigating a single vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Oberlin Man.
It happened just after 10am this morning on HWY 165 in Kinder. Troopers say, a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria driven by 78-year-old John D. Manual of Oberlin was traveling south on HWY 165. For unknown reasons, Manual ran off road and struck two trees. Manual, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Allen Parish Coroner's Office.
Manual served as the Allen Parish Constable and was on-duty at the time of the crash.
A routine toxicology sample was obtained from Manual and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
