Unrestrained Driver Killed in Assumption Parish Crash

Just after 9 p.m. On June 20, a 52 year old Paincourtville man was killed when his vehicle traveled off the road and overturned in Assumption Parish.

Late yesterday evening a 2003 Ford pickup truck was traveling south on LA 308 in Belle Rose, LA by Gerald Miles. Miles, for reasons under investigation, missed a left curve, traveled to the right side of the and began to rotate counter-clockwise as he traveled across LA 308. The truck then struck an embankment and overturned.

Miles was not wearing a seat belt and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to Prevost Hospital in Donaldsonville, LA. where he was pronounced died shortly after his arrival. Louisiana State Police suspect he died from injuries he sustained in the crash.

This crash remains under investigation as impairment is suspected to be a factor in the crash. A toxicology sample was taken and results are pending.
