WASHINGTON (AP) - The government is offering some fresh economic numbers today. The Labor Department says first time claims for unemployment benefits fell by 5,000 to a seasonally adjusted 388,000 last week. That's the lowest level since April. The less volatile four-week average dropped below 400,000 for the first time in seven months. The Commerce Department says builders broke ground on fewer homes in October, but a gauge of future construction, building permits, rose by nearly 11 percent.
