ULM shuffles classes after building fire

MONROE, La. (AP) - The University of Louisiana at Monroe's George T. Walker Hall will be closed until at least early next year as a result of damage sustained from a Tuesday fire.

The News-Star reports nobody was injured in the two-alarm fire that began in a first floor custodial closet.

University President Nick Bruno says operations at the school are back to normal, but there remains work to be done to determine relocations.

Walker Hall housed several departments within the ULM College of Arts and Sciences, including math, English and criminal justice. It also housed the graduate school, financial aid, the registrar, the computing center, sponsored programs and research, the copy center and the Louisiana Small Business Development Center.

Officials are still investigating to determine the cause of the fire.
