LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Louisiana-Lafayette football coach Mark Hudspeth has suspended sophomore safety Hunter Thibodaux after Lafayette police arrested the Acadiana High School graduate for allegedly operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Police say the 19-year-old Thibodaux was arrested Sunday after an officer performed a traffic stop. He was later released on $750 bond.
Hudspeth tells The Advertiser he plans to meet with Thibodaux Tuesday to discuss his future with the program.
Cpl. Paul Mouton says Thibodaux was a passenger in a vehicle initially stopped for speeding. While the officer dealt with the driver, Mouton says Thibodaux climb back into the vehicle and begin to drive away from the scene. Thibodaux traveled several blocks before he was stopped.
Last season, Thibodaux logged one tackle in six games for the Cajuns as a redshirt freshman.
