The Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team gets back into action on Friday at 2 p.m. against conference foe Arkansas State as squad continues its nine-match homestand at Cajun Courts.
After the match with the Red Wolves, Louisiana (11-8) is slated to face conference opponents Troy and South Alabama. The Troy contest is at 2 p.m. on Saturday, while the South Alabama match is at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
"It's been good to have a break after a tough five matches in eight days," senior Hannah Appleyard said. "We are looking forward to this weekend against a bunch of conference teams. This will help us to find out where we stand in the conference."
The Cajuns are 7-4 at Cajun Courts this season including a 2-3 mark in the last five contests. Louisiana is 1-2 against teams from the Sun Belt as the Cajuns bested Middle Tennessee 4-3 on the road before falling to UL-Monroe 4-3 and North Texas 4-0 at Cajun Courts.
The duo of Juliette Clement and Melissa Burckhartt recently earned a ranking (No.79) in doubles play after posting a 13-0 record in the spring.
"We hope to see a lot of fans out at the matches this weekend," junior Sandra Ahlqvist said. "This is a very important weekend for us as we get closer to the conference tournament."
Arkansas State (4-5) comes into the contest having won its last two contests against Evansville 6-1 and Southern Illinois 4-3.
The Trojans (12-4) are on an eight-match win streak and face South Alabama on Friday at 10 a.m. at Cajun Courts.
South Alabama (12-6) three of its last five matches including a 4-2 win over conference foe Middle Tennessee on the road this past weekend.
