It is now confirmed that one of two people killed in a Shreveport collision Wednesday morning was a student at the University of Louisiana (UL) .
A Shreveport station reported that 20-year-old Blake Fritz and 19-year-old Megan Rogers both perished in the crash that occurred about midnight Wednesday when their Chevy truck hit a tree on Robinson Place in the city's Highland neighborhood. Fritz attended UL and Rogers attended Louisiana State University. Facebook remembrances of both students have been posted online.
According to KTBS, police suggested that the vehicle's speed may have contributed to the collision. The station also reported that police said the vehicle was "fully engulfed" when they arrived on the scene. The report says that firefighters were called to extinguish the blaze.
