LAFAYETTE - For the second time since her return to the lineup from an injury, Nerissa Myers has been named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week. She batted .667 over the week of April 21-28, and drove in five runs while scoring four runs, leading the Cajuns to a sweep of the Troy Trojans in Senior Weekend at Lamson Park.
Myers, a senior from Petal, Miss, is batting a team-best .446 on the season with 33 RBI, 37 runs scored and seven home runs in 30 games played. She also leads the team with a .765 slugging percentage and a .584 on-base percentage.
Her Senior Weekend was highlighted on Sunday when she went 3-for-4 at the plate with all five RBI, on a home run and a double.
The honor marks the second of the 2013 season for Myers, and the sixth time this season that a member of the Ragin' Cajuns won the conference award. It is the fourth time in Myers career that she has won this award.
Myers and the Cajuns will look to continue their current 19-game winning streak with final regular season series of the season on the road in Monroe.
