Game three of Super Regionals in Lafayette was another baseball game and chance for UL fans to cheer on the Cajuns.
"It's about athletics and the spirit of competitiveness. It makes it fun, when it's tight and it's close. You have to cheer harder, you have to pull harder, and getting your team to the winning stretch," said UL President Dr. Joseph Savioe.
Fans have been going strong all year for UL sports, but the Ragin' Cajun with the biggest smile perhaps is Savoie.
"Athletics is kind of the front porch of the university. A lot of people have the chance to see you for the first time. They get involved, they get engaged, they get interested in what's going on with sports, and maybe they'll support other things that are going on at the university as well. Tens of millions of people are seeing our name on a regular basis. That's publicity you can't buy otherwise," Savoie said.
For Savoie, UL games and every day comes down to two words.
"Geaux Cajuns," Savoie said proudly.
