Quarterbacks

Chris Masson (Jr 6-2 201)- Masson enters his 2nd year as UL's starting quarterback. In 2009 Masson posted 9 games of 200-plus yards of total offense, just one game shy of tying the school single-season record. His 2,406 passing yards ranks 4th in single season UL History. Masson has made even great improvements in offseason as the offense is firmly his.

Blaine Gautier (So. 6-0 202) - Injured a finger on his throwing hand early in camp, Gautier is expected to be the backup QB this season for UL. Has shown flashes of what is ideally the prototype quarterback for the Cajuns' spread offense scheme. Still needs to harness his playmaking ability, don't be surprised to see him used as a specialty player this year in the offense

Brad McGuire (Jr. 6-2 215) - UL's do it all player. Converted to H-Back this spring before moving back to quarterback after Gautier's injury. McGuire will be used in multiple positions this year for the Cajuns to try to get him on the field and use his speed and toughness anyway they can.

Running Backs

Julian Shankle (Jr. 5-10 202) - The lone horse in this race with actual game experience for UL. Shankle carried the ball 14 times for 38 yards and a TD in 2009. Finished spring training atop the depth chart at running back. Shankle will be used as an inbetween the tackle runner and in possible goal line situations

Kevis Streeter (Jr. 5-8 180) - One of the newcomers at running back that is expected to compete for the starting position. Although small in size, Streeter packs a real punch and has very good explosive ability. Injuries have hampered him a little in summer camp but will very much be in the mix this fall.

Aaron Spikes (Fr. 5-9 182) - A very highly touted back out of the Dallas area, Spikes has all the intangibles necessary to be successful. A great burst of speed has impressed the coaching staff but a habit of fumbling has kept him from making serious ground in the running back race.

Robert Walker (Fr. 5-7 179) - Mamou product Robert Walker is another back that is in the conversation. A record setter in high school, Walker is a shifty back with enough punch in the run to be an every down back.
