A group of UL engineering students are off to Italy to accept an international award for the second time.
The UL Student Chapter of the Society for Petroleum Engineers won the 2010 Outstanding Student Chapter in North America.
They also won the award in 2008.
Two dozen of the close to 300 students in the Chapter will accept the award at the annual Technical Conference and Exhibition.
These future leaders in the oil and gas industry say they are getting ready for their future jobs out in the Gulf.
"The guy at the top is the Petroleum Engineer who plans everything," says Heath Sonnier, Chapter President.
The group is glad to be back on top after a year of not winning the award-- and they say it is because of their proximity to the oil and gas region that they have an advantage.
As Sonnier puts it, "We're lucky to be situated in an oil and gas region -- so we have a lot of opportunities to interact personally with the industry."
