UL Mens Tennis Unveils Challenging Fall Schedule

LAFAYETTE, La. - Head coach Mark Jeffrey announced a very challenging 2013 fall slate for the Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team on Wednesday. Trips to four futures events and the ITA Southern Regionals highlight the schedule.

"This is definitely the toughest fall schedule we have taken on in my five years here at Louisiana," Jeffrey stated. "I believe that goes for the past 25 years here as well."

Highlighting the fall will be a main draw appearance of twins Hunter and Yates Johnson in the Claremont Calif. and Birmingham, Ala. futures events. Junior Damian Farinola has also earned a main draw spot in Brimingham Futures Event.

"We set up a pro schedule for the prime purpose of guys maintaining their ATP rankings," Jeffrey added. "We see that for the first time in program history we will have three guys playing main draw this fall which is taking us a step in the right direction."

The Johnson twins open the season for the Cajuns at the Claremont, Calif. Futures (Sept. 10-13).

Before heading to futures events Houston, Texas (Oct. 10-14), Birmingham, Ala. (Oct. 18-22) and Pensacola, Fla. (Oct. 25-29), the squad opens the season at the Baylor Invitational on Sept. 20-23. The tournament historically hosts 10 of the top 75 teams nationally.

The Cajuns head to the ITA Southern Regional on Oct. 10-14 and will face individuals from several strong SEC programs including LSU, Auburn, Miss State, Ole Miss and Alabama.

"This will give our team the chance to compete and play against the best nationally," Jeffrey said. "The guys have done this all summer. Playing nationally ranked teams is really nothing new for us. We are used to the competition and will be ready to go come this fall.

"The guys have had a great summer, as a whole they have done everything we have asked them to do so I am a very proud coach sitting here today. All I can say is that it's great to be a Cajun."
