The University of Louisiana at Lafayette and United Blood Services will conduct their second spring blood drive on Monday, April 7th and Tuesday, April 8th from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in front of Dupré Library and between Madison and Oliver Halls. The drive is being sponsored by Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity and The Greek Council.
Donors will receive (while supplies last):
• A "Life is Good" t-shirt
• A coupon for a free chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A
• A bowling pass to Acadiana Lanes
"Like our shirt says "Life is Good" and giving blood is a way to make sure that life continues for people in our community" said Donor Recruitment Representative Gannon Baca.
The goal for this drive is 125 pints. United Blood Services supplies 50 South Louisiana hospitals in 32 parishes with 250 pints of lifesaving blood daily.
Anyone who is at least 16 years old, weighs at least 110 pounds, and has a valid photo ID is eligible to donate. Parental permission is required for 16 year olds and certain height and weight requirements apply for those 17-22. All donors must pass the vital signs and health history examinations given prior to donation.
Donors can now complete part of the interview in the convenience of their own home or office by doing their interview online the day of their drive. To do this, donors should go to www.unitedbloodsystems.org and click on the "Health History Questionnaire" then bring a hard copy of the printed ticket with them to their donation. The health history must be completed the same day as the donation; it cannot be completed a day or two ahead of time. For more information, call 337-235-LIFE or e-mail email@example.com.
