A fatal ATV crash claimed the life of a UL Lafayette Senior this holiday weekend.
The crash happened on private property in the 4600 block of Dixie-Shreveport Road in north Caddo Parish.
Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office says it appears the female who was driving took a curve too fast on a dirt road in an open field, and the 4-wheeled Polaris Ranger flipped with two other females inside.
The driver, Nicole Arbour, 22, of Mandeville, and the other female passenger, 22-year-old Lauren Pigeon, suffered minor injuries. The third passenger, Courtney Kenney, 23 of Monroe, was transported to Willis Knighton Bossier hospital where she was pronounced dead.
None of the women were wearing seat belts or helmets.
Reports from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office say a criminal investigation is under way because alcohol is believed to have been involved.
Kenney was a senior at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she was a Hospitality Management major.
Kenney's funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2014, in the chapel at Mulhearn Funeral Home on Sterlington Road in Monroe.
