The University of Louisiana at Lafayette and United Blood Services will conduct their fall blood drive on October 28 and 29 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in front of Dupré Library and near Zeus. The drive is being sponsored by Alpha Kappa Alpha and Lambda Chi Alpha.
Donors will receive (while supplies last):
A "Best Donors Ever" t-shirt
A coupon from Walk On's for a fried pickles appetizer
A coupon for a free coffee from CC's Coffee House on campus
"We know the Homecoming week theme is ‘Best Week Ever' and we would like to say thank you to the Best Donors Ever" said Donor Recruitment Representative Gannon Baca. "Each blood donation is vital in helping save lives, and to have the support of UL Lafayette students, means a lot."
The goal for this drive is 125 pints. United Blood Services supplies 50 South Louisiana hospitals in 32 parishes with 250 pints of lifesaving blood daily.
Anyone who is at least 16 years old, weighs at least 110 pounds, and has a valid photo ID is eligible to donate. Parental permission is required for 16 year olds and certain height and weight requirements apply for those 17-22. All donors must pass the vital signs and health history examinations given prior to donation.
Donors can now complete part of the interview in the convenience of their own home or office by doing their interview online the day of their drive. To do this, donors should go to www.unitedbloodsystems.org and click on the "Health History Questionnaire" then bring a hard copy of the printed ticket with them to their donation. The health history must be completed the same day as the donation; it cannot be completed a day or two ahead of time. For more information, call 337-235-LIFE or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
