UL Lafayette, United Blood Services and several student organizations are hosting a spring blood drive on Monday, February 4 and Tuesday, February 5 on campus. The drive will be sponsored by Pi Kappa Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Lambda Chi Alpha, Sigma Gamma Mu and The Political Science Club. Bloodmobiles will be parked in front of Dupré Library and near Zeus on campus both days.
Donors will receive (while supplies last):
· A newly designed red "Cajun's Holding On For Life" shirt, which celebrates UL Lafayette's second New Orleans Bowl victory
· A free bowling pass from Acadiana Lanes
· A coupon for chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A
The goal for this drive is to collect 150 pints of blood.
"Due to the weather and flu epidemic United Blood Services has been battling blood shortages since the start of 2013," explained Donor Recruitment Representative Anne Laughlin. "Meeting or exceeding our goal of 150 pints for this drive will go a long way to making sure that we have a robust blood supply for area patients."
Anyone who is at least 16 years old, weighs at least 110 pounds, and has a valid photo ID is eligible to donate (All donors must pass the vital signs and health history examinations given prior to donation).
Appointments are strongly encouraged and are available online at www.bloodhero.com using the sponsor code ullafayette.
A blood donor is a special kind of hero and healthy men and women are needed everyday. Someone in the US needs blood every 3 seconds. By giving blood, you assure that blood is readily available for your community and loved ones. Find the hero in you!
