LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Jordan Kellman has been appointed the new dean of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's College of Liberal Arts, effective July 1.
The University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors approved the appointment at its meeting Tuesday.
Kellman, an associate professor of history, replaces David Barry, who retired earlier this year.
In a news release, Kellman said he plans to broaden the college's international focus through study abroad opportunities and the coordination of "international components" within its curriculum.
Kellman has served as interim director of Academic Planning and Faculty Development since 2010. In his new role, he said his priorities also involve "developing a broader culture of sharing best practices in teaching and student retention and encouraging and promoting the college's faculty research."
