COLUMBIA, Mo. - Coming off of a tournament championship at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate, the young Ragin' Cajuns golf squad will look to continue its success as they tee off at the Columbia Regional Preview starting on Monday.
The 54-hole tournament is being played at The Club at Old Hawthorne with play beginning at 8 a.m. tomorrow. The second round will be played immediately following the first round on Monday, while the third round will be played on Tuesday.
"I am really excited with the opportunity ahead the next few days here in Columbia," head coach Theo Sliman said. "This is a great golf course that will certainly be a strong test. Missouri will be hosting a NCAA regional here in the spring, and we are excited to see how we match up to a course that will be set up as if it were a regional."
Louisiana will again feature a lineup of all underclassmen starting four sophomores and a freshman. Fernando Cruz Valle, Haraldur Magnus and Ross Davis each placed inside the top 25 last week for the Cajuns. Thomas Strandemo and Christian Verrougstraete round out the lineup.
"Our focus this week as well as every other week will be simple," Sliman stated. "We need to stick to our process of playing this course with patience and not get caught up in the results. We also need to finish the last six holes of each round strong. When we do this collectively as a team the results will take care of themselves."
The Columbia Regional Preview field includes four teams that made an appearance in the 2013 NCAA tournament including host Missouri, Memphis, San Francisco and Tulsa. Austin Peay, Iowa State, Kansas State, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska and South Alabama round out the 11-team field.
The Ragin' Cajuns are paired with Nebraska and San Francisco for the first day. Live scoring can be found online at golfstat.com.
