LAFAYETTE - The University of Louisiana at Lafayette and Texas A&M University announced on Tuesday a non-conference football game scheduled for Sept. 16, 2017 in College Station at newly developed Kyle Field.
The meeting will be the seventh between the schools since 1990 and the sixth in College Station. In the lone meeting between the schools in Lafayette, the Ragin' Cajuns defeated the No. 25-ranked Aggies, 29-22, before a Cajun Field-record crowd of 38,783.
"It's exciting to schedule a team the caliber of Texas A&M and the SEC," Louisiana Director of Athletics Scott Farmer said. "With all of their history and their traditions, our fans will be very anxious to be at that game."
The meeting against Texas A&M is one of two non-conference games already penciled in on the Ragin' Cajuns 2017 schedule after announcing a home-and-home date against Tulsa that is slated to begin on Sept. 9, 2017.
"Once again, I think that says a lot about where our program is going," head coach Mark Hudspeth said. "Because now with the strength of schedule being so important for the Power Five and getting into the national playoff picture, your strength of schedule has to be good. It will be a great challenge going into a newly renovated stadium and facing a program with a lot of excitement and momentum."
